Capri is a Mediterranean island of calcareous origin that has been visited over the centuries by intellectuals, artists and writers, all enthralled by its magical beauty.
A mix of history, nature, worldliness, culture and events that daily blend together and bring the Legend of Capri to life; a legend that sees no comparison anywhere in the world. Capri's beguiling combination of fabled beauty and hedonism has charmed Roman emperors, Russian revolutionaries and Hollywood stars for decades.
It's the perfect microcosm of Mediterranean appeal, a smooth cocktail of chichi piazzas and cool cafes, Roman ruins and rugged seascapes. Luxuriant, extraordinary, and such a mild climate.
Its also a hugely popular day-trip destination and a summer favorite of holidaying VIPs. Inevitably, the two main centers, Capri Town and its uphill rival Anacapri, are almost entirely given over to tourism. All of this overlooks the deep blue water that laps into secluded coves and mysterious grottoes.
Capri is very well know for its luxurious yet fresh boutique hotels where you can have an unforgettible accomodation. As Oui Society, we chose Villa Marina Capri for our 10 days stay, our choice wasn't by chance because this luxurious hotel offers you a holiday of total relaxation from all the services and features they present.
Thanks to their warm welcome, the staff is extremely friendly and open to any suggestion you have.
In order to get easily to the port or the square, they also offer a shuttle service with the ape calessino, the classic Italian transport used in the sixties.
The shuttle transport us from the hotel to any dock we need.
For a sweet and energizing wake up, you were offered a wide range of courses, such as Norwegian salmon, fresh mozzarellas, eggs, exquisite cold cuts and haute patisseries. Homemade croissants, cakes and tarts. This will make a great start to our day.
The “STAI SPA” - You can't leave this place without enjoying a relaxation day at their SPA with a sauna, Turkish bath, sensation showers and infinity pool with hydromassage.
You can enjoy and see so much by just walking the narrow steps and streets of the island! Gorgeous villas, cute and nicely decorated gardens and sweet tiny shops are what you will encounter when making the road on foot.
Food in Capri:
Almost all restaurants on Capri feature menus based on traditional cuisine, so you'll have no problem finding local dishes to sample while on the island. Pizza, pasta and seafood dishes were our picks.
You can't miss these palatable pizzas!
The most famous dish in Capri is ravioli capresi. The filling is made with parmigiano and aged caciotta cheese, and marjoram, and the cooked ravioli are tossed with a fresh tomato and basil sauce.
If you love seafood you'll love Impepata di Cozze, or peppered mussels.
It was only natural that the island made use of its coastal harvest, giving birth to this irresistible recipe. I t only needs mussels, garlic, white wine, pepper, and parsley.t only needs mussels, garlic, white wine, pepper, and parsley.t only needs mussels, garlic, white wine, pepper, and parsley.
Lemons are the symbol of Capri. Almost every house has lemons in its garden; they appear on street signs, door fronts, benches, and in the shops you can get all kinds of lemon candy, and the famous liqueur limoncello.
We will surely return again there, this island has a lot to discover.
